Text of the hadith

5 – It is reported from Ibn ‘Abbas, interpreting the words of the Most High: Do not move your tongue (repeating it) to hasten it. He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was always tense during the revelation (revelation), which made him move his lips. Ibn ‘Abbas said: I will move my lips as the Messenger of Allah did.

Ibn ‘Abbas said: Allah has sent down: Do not move your tongue to hasten it. It is for us to gather and recite it. Ibn ‘Abbas said, “To gather it for you in your heart so that you may read it.”.

And when We read it, follow it, Ibn ‘Abbas said, Listen carefully.

He said, “We have to make it clear.” Ibn ‘Abbas said, ‘This means,’ furthermore, We must make it so that you read it. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) listened to Jibril when he came to him, and after Jibril left, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recited the Qur’an as he had read it.
